Unless you're in the information industry, you may not be aware of the crisis at the EPA Libraries. There are budget woes, limiting important information acess.  Many of the resources housed at the EPA Library Network are "unique", and speak to environmental risks and governmental policy, and is used by scientists, lawyers, research and consulting firms and the general public alike. Speaking of climate control, check out Chicago Climate Exchange (http://www.chicagoclimatex.com). The site says it's "the world'f first global marketplace for integrating voluntary legally binding emissions reducations with emissions trading and offsets for all six greenhouse gases." Read the members list and you'll learn about a whole new class of firms involved in this emerging growth sector - industries like offset aggregators, offset providers and liquidity providers, along with municipalities, food and agricultural products, and others.

On the global front, we find it fascinating that Chinese companies are continuing to invest in mineral-rich countries to ensure supplies of minerals and metals for strategic defense initiatives and economic development,.  Yet, there are Chinese companies too that are relinquishing strategic state-owned assets to foreign investors.  The first foreign acquisitions began in the early 1990's.  In 1996, Itochu Corp and Suzuki Motor Corp. acquired control of Beijing Tourist Coach Co.  ... China sees over 200 foreign acquisition deals a year, of which 70-80 percent are publicly disclosed.....China publishes no official M&A data.  To piece this cross-border acquisitions information together is a classic custom research project .... there's some information in Asian Capital Journal (www.asianfn.com), and some at the United Nations, and other information within investment consulting firms, often located in-country, and others.
